g live in san jose janine de la vega ktvu channel 2 news. >>> san francisco police are looking for a man they say attacked a teenage girl and her mother. that happened when she tried to board a muni bus. ktvu channel 2 reporter claudine wong is in the district with a description of the suspect and what may have provoked the attack. good morning, claudine. >> reporter: good morning, pam. this is where it all happened. we're add the intersection where this attacker apparently got on a bus and ended up pushing and strangling and robbing a woman. the search for him still around way. according to the examiner this all happened last weekend at about 7:30 at night. the mother and 15-year-old daughter were standing at the back of the bus when two people got on the bus. one man was a large man who tried to push his way on to the packed bus. he told the examiner he kept pushing and pushing. that is when he apparently punched the girl anded strangling her. when the mother tried to stop it, she was punched too. while this was going on the second man st

down in san jose. traffic not off to a great start. we were you just saw brian flores. because of a large. it hit an suv southbound 101 just after 4:30 this morning. and another car came by and hit the rock. so fortunately there was no serious injuries but the two right lanes are are closed. southbound 101 still moving by pretty well. let's move along and take a look at the bay bridge. we're getting more of a crowd here westbound as you come up to the toll plaza. the only lanes moving through are the fast track and car pool lanes. pretty soon the fast track lanes will be slow as they switch the metering lights on. we've been talking about the crash on southbound 280 still have a lane blocked. for the investigation of a fatal accident. northbound 280 moves well. we will be watching that until they clear it. filling in for steve. good morning, bill. >>> i'm waiting on the traffic. at night we think you morning guys have it so good. you have caters, makeup people and coffee. i'm still waiting. things are looking good. you have a little bit of

the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around mid

night san jose police officers in unmarked cars tried to stop the car but the driver of the car started ramming into two police cars and a parked vehicle. the officer got out of their vehicle and that's when the suspect accelerated towards the officer. out of fear for their lives they shot the suspect and one neighbor heard all the chaos while she was eating dinner. >> we heard a car crash and she looked out the window and it was a car crash and we ran outside and we all of a sudden heard a popping sound and i guess it was gunfire. and they had all of their guns drawn and she was telling everybody, go inside, go inside. [ police sirens ] >> reporter: that suspect was rushed to the hospital where he died of his injuries and there was a passenger with him and he is being cooperative and it is unknown if he will be charged with anything. this happened in an unincorporated area of san jose. they have people being placed on administrative leave, back out here live again this is a meticulous shooting. i do have a spokesperson and we hope to have that for you in the next half hour. janine de l

1,000 images of child pornography seized from the home of a substitute teacher from san jose. he was arrested wednesday at a school in monterey county where he was a teacher. he was also a substitute teacher. from 2009 until just last month. that's why the superintendent of that district center letters home to parents with information about the person's arrest. he is now at valley medical center on a psychiatric hold after trying to commit suicide thursday night. >>> for the first time in three years, san jose police department swore in new officers and there was a total of 43 of them. the graduates will replace some of the more than 130 officers who left the department last year. some of course retired. others left for other departments. the new officers will hit the streets for the first time next week. they will be supervised for a few months. and then joined on the streets by other new graduates. the next academy begins in the next couple of months. nice to see. new video out of oakland where dozens of occupy protesters took ton the streets of the downtown area last night dem

the dogs in 2007 but the dublin school board voted to bring them back last year. >>> san jose police are looking for two men that are suspected of robbing people leaving a light rail station. janine de la vega is at station with a look at the video police are hoping will lead them to the suspects. >> reporter: the second incident in the last couple of months where victims have been followed off of a light rail station and robbed in neighborhood. the first one happened on ray street but the latest involved a light rail station and happened in the evening hours. police want you to take a good look at these two men. one is black the other is latino and both appear to be in their 20s. on march 8th they followed victims off the train which is near capital avenue. this is video of the two suspects getting off the train. investigators say they confronted the victims in a neighborhood about a half mile away. it was there where they shot the victims. after the victims were robbed the suspects ran away. the first suspect is described as black being 5'10" ta

a new crash reported in san jose. that sounds pretty serious. >>> it is 7:21. a landslide has forced several families to evacuate and almost a dozen homes are still in danger this morning. the pictures show just how massive the landslide was. it happened early yesterday morning about 50 miles north of seattle. reporter jeff is joining us live to let us know the future of the homes that are still in danger. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tori. geologists will come out and try to assess the damage and risk that is still posed to the few dozen homes. the slide is on the other side of this house. the video is amazing. it's best captured from up above. it looks like a huge bite was taken out of that hillside. the landslide itself is at least 700 feet long. and that cliff goes straight down about 200 feet. so much land mass was lost during yesterday morning's slide that the coastline here on would be island has now changed. it used to be straight and now it jets out about 40-50 feet. an immense amount of mud and rock and debris. only one ho

-involved shooting in unincorporated san jose. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is live in san jose with what police are saying about gunfire that followed an overnight chase. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. sheriff's deputies just cleared the scene on jerilyn drive. they've been here for 12 hours investigating. we were just told by a neighbor. they say this is where the suspect in a stolen car was shot, where you see all of this broken glass and just across the street, that's where they say that he crashed his car after he was shot. i don't know if you can see. there's some debris there, still in the street in this residential neighborhood. now, this all took place just before 7:00 last night. san jose police were driving in unmarked cars from the specialized metro team. they spotted the stolen car, tried to spot it. authorities say they did use their lights and siren. the suspect then started to ram into police cars and the parked vehicle. one of the officers got out of his car. investigators say that's when the suspect

taylor and that's because a city of san jose street sweeper somehow crashed foot that power pole and you can see it is completely down and it's extremely dark out here, traffic lights are out as well as street lights are out. now police and firefighters are called here at 5:00 this morning, sparks were flying because the power pole was down and police are interviewing and determining what caused him to hit the pole as a precaution and police have shut down northbound coleman lanes before pg&e shut off the electricity. electricity has been knocked down to 577 customers in the area and we spoke with a sergeant who tells us what his immediate worry was. >> is a sergeant you were supposed to hear from tells us they were concerned about people in this area initially because live wires were down and they thought a fire was going to happen, firefighters were called here but they left, but i think we have that tape to hear what the sergeant said. >> our first concern because of the live wires and the dangers involved with that we have taken precautionary measures to prevent any further injuries
